#FirefoxOSAppDays in Rome

Firefox OS App DaysIf you're a regular reader of this blog, then you probably are already familiar with the Mozilla Foundation's Firefox OS project, a new mobile operating system which lets users run applications developed entirely using HTML, JavaScript, and other open web application APIs.

And you will immediately understand why we are so enthusiastic about this truly international effort. It's right in our sweet spot – using standard web technologies to create an open ecosystem that allows developers to monetize their work while giving end-users a simple way to discover and install a huge variety of apps.

On January 26, 2013, just a few days ago, Firefox OS App Days were held in more than 20 locations around the world. The goals were to:

  • educate and inspire developers to work on HTML5 apps;
  • amplify and inspire grassroots developer momentum worldwide;
  • create opportunities for local developers to showcase their apps; and
  • raise awareness of Firefox OS and the developer ecosystem

AppsFuel was at the Rome event in force and we wanted to thank the Firefox OS team for a great day for nerds ʘ‿ʘ The presentations on HTML5 strategies for mobile devices and the nuts and bolts of the OS were thorough and well-documented. Lunch was great, too!

Are YOU a developer interested in exploring what mobile HTML5 apps could mean for your livelihood? Why not sign up to our developer zone and find out!
